Agronomy

Sidney Sugars Incorporated depends on the growers for quality sugarbeets. Sidney Sugars Agriculturists would like to provide the growers with information and the tools that will help them succeed. The following information is to help our growers achieve the quality sugarbeet that Sidney Sugars appreciates.

What is Agronomy?
Agronomy is the science of crop production. It incorporates basic sciences, such as biology, chemistry, physics, geology and microbiology, into an applied science which is the foundation for most agriculture.

What does an Agriculturist do?
An Agriculturist makes recommendations to assist growers in the production of a high quality sugarbeet crop with an increase in recoverable sugar and minimal production costs. He or she maintains current knowledge of new research and technological changes to ensure growers receive up-to-date information on sugarbeet agriculture. They also promote beet seed variety selection to growers to contribute to the profitability of Sidney Sugars Incorporated. Assist with the implementation of new technology in crop production. An Agriculturist also assists growers with harvest equipment and helps improve harvest techniques to maximize sugar recovery per acre.
