Maintenance Planner

Sidney Sugars Incorporated, located in Sidney, MT, a subsidiary of American Crystal Sugar Company, has an opening for a Maintenance Planner. The purpose of this position is to act as the local SAP Plant Maintenance Module "power user" and "planner", ensuring the integrity of the data by daily audit and correction of maintenance cost accounting, generating management reports, along with administering the equipment database and training of end users.

The principal accountabilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Utilize planning and coordination of manpower, parts, equipment and material to anticipate and eliminate potential delays; act as a liason between maintenance and production; balance daily output requirements with need for reliability and proactive maintenance; responsible for planning and scheduling long and short range outage activities.
  • Acting as Power User for the SAP Plant Maintenance Module; auditing the maintenance cost accounting on a daily basis; correcting any errors discovered; and alerting appropriate staff to issues to ensure corrective action is taken and errors do not continue.
  • Maintaining the integrity of PM data; enforcing proper usage of system by users; maintaining the functional location structure within SAP; generating management reports on a weekly basis, or as needed, to provide both general reporting information along with specialized reports designed to assist in isolating and monitoring potential issues; training new PM users in the proper use of system; and interfacing with the Corporate Business Lead - PM.
  • Administering an organized process to control all existing and new documents, drawings, and manuals in the equipment files and SAP database.
  • Interfacing with the Maintenance Manager and Supervisors to assess equipment criticality and recommended materials/parts inventories (min/max, actuals)
  • Generating management reports on a daily, weekly, or as needed for maintenance spending and other specialized requests.
  • Other duties include interfacing with Storerooms and Purchasing to ensure the accuracy of PM data; interfacing with Payroll on daily issues that impact PM records; and generating management reports as requested.

To be successful in this position requires knowledge of planning and resource coordination normally gained through the completion of a two-year degree in a related field. The incumbent must have well developed communication and computer skills including computerized maintenance management software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite. Several years of prior experience in a sugarbeet factory or similar manufacturing environment is preferred along with a strong mechanical (electrical) aptitude and the ability to describe various maintenance tasks. An understanding of "Excellence in Maintenance" principles is also required.
